General Information about Albanian Identity Card (in Albania) 

  • Electronic ID Card application for Albanian Citizen who have completed 16 years old.
  • Electronic ID Card validity is 10 years.
  • Applicant needs to be in person at Application and Distribution. 
  • General Note: Application and Distribution Process may be changed according to the current legislation. Please consult the legislation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Albania for current processes.

0. National Civil Registry (NCR) - Personal Data Check

  • Prior to application, citizen presents to Civil Status Office where he will apply for ID Card and verifies the personal data correctness.
     

1. Albanian Post Office - Voucher Purchase

  • Voucher for Electronic ID Card with value of 1 500 ALL.
     

2. National Civil Registry (NCR) - Personal Data Registration

  • Identification Document (Birth Certificate; Citizenship Certificate; etc).
     

3. Aleat Office (CSO Municipality/Administrative Unit) - Application

  • Application for ID Card is performed at each Municipality/Administrative Unit or Commune which has an application office where the citizen is registered. With the term Aleat office we mean the space/section dedicated to the process of application and distribution inside the government entity. (Consult the Map)
     

4. Aleat Office (CSO Municipality/Administrative Unit) - Distribution

  • Distribution of Electronic ID Card is performed at the office of application, only by the applicant. 
  • Electronic ID Card production time is 15 calendar days in Albania (National Holidays during working day excluded). Except when the data need clearance, the production time could be more long. 
     

Note: Only Steps 3 & 4 are managed by Aleat. Aleat is committed that both phases be operated on the best and most efficient way. 
 

Application process for Lost Electronic ID Card (in Albania) and required documents in addition to the above steps:

  • Original Police Report for lost/stolen ID card with correct data of citizen/document.
     

Application process for Data change, damage , renewal of the Electronic ID Card (in Albania) and required documents in addition to the above steps:

  • Original Electronic ID Card.

 

General Information about Albanian Identity Card Application in Embassy/Consulate

  • Electronic ID Card application for Albanian Citizen who have completed 16 years old.
  • Electronic ID Card validity is 10 years.
  • Applicant needs to be in person at Application and Distribution. 
  • All process steps are performed in the Embassy/Consulate Office.
  • Electronic ID Card application is Only performed jointly with Passport. 
  • General Note: Application and Distribution Process may be changed according to the current legislation. Please consult the legislation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs/ Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Albania for current processes.

  2. Voucher Purchase

  4. Distribution

 

1. Personal Data Registration/Check -National Civil Registry (NCR)

  • Prior to application, citizen presents to Consul Office where he will apply for ID Card and verifies the personal data correctness. 
  • Identification Document (Birth Certificate; Citizenship Certificate; etc).
     

2. Voucher Purchase

  • Voucher for Electronic ID Card with value for each Office (Greece, Italy 12€),(Belgium, Switzerland 16€),(England 13£), (USA $18). 
     

3. Application

  • Application for ID Card is performed at each Embassy/Consulate which has an application office where the citizen may apply. (Consult the Map)
     

4. Distribution

  • Distribution of Electronic ID Card is performed at the office of application, only by the applicant.
  • Electronic ID Card production time is 3-4 weeks depending on Embassy/Consulate logistics. Except when the data need clearance, the production time could be more long.

 

Reapplication process for Electronic ID Card (not in Albania) and required documents in addition to the above steps:

  • Police Report for lost/stolen ID card translated and legalized according to the process of the country with apostle stamp, (while Greece, Brussels with Ministry of Foreign Affairs stamp).
